Exodus 17:1 is the parallel to the first poem of TEQ #606 - 'A deep ratch' - the first poem I wrote in the new millenium. (I recently added a little to the article on Bassano, the first example). Exodus 17:1 contains this hebrew word PI = פי (of PAH/PEH = פאה) ('commandment') which is translated into german (Steurer's interlinear translation) as 'Geheiß'. In english translation it is still the ECKE of a DOOR in the Moses language - like the opening of a mouth - this is somewhat obscured in the talmudic hebrew a thousand years or so later. Is this 'Geheiß' (oral order) the same as the talking flames of Moses' thornbush? It is perhaps only in german that it associates with the temperature, I would guess.

The word PI is (by De Mauro, Tullio & Mancini, Marco: Dizionario Etymologico, Garzanti 2000) first documented in italian in 1561 (the geometric value) and 1571 (the name of the alphabetic letter). It seems that many of the etymological 'first recorded occurrences' of italian meet my PEB.

For example, the first PI selects - by the formula (2009-1561) * 0,366 = 163,968 - the poem PEB #164:

It is a mystery.
I got it from an oracle
who said that there are three
parts of a numeral:

It's 86.3.

Adding this 86,3 to the 163,968 gives 250,268.

I gave (not really 'launched') a copy of this book to the chinese embassy more than a decade ago. If there should be any biz on the PI, it could just as well be for the PO?

Garzanti's etymological tells of e.g. the wellknown italian word 'pizza' that it is first attested in latin in 997 but later in italian in 1535:

Since the PEB is cyclic on 1000 years, I compute it in the PEB (written in 2009, containing 366 poems) by the formula (2009-997-1000) * 0,366 = 4,392 = some way into the poem #5 which has 14 lines. This means 0,392 * 14 = line 5,488. Here are lines 5 and 6 from this poem 5:

Then pushes an angel the shoulder,
a scapula-push from the cupboard

So the latin 'pizza' should be a sort of 'scapula-push', tells my PEB. Trying the italian pizza this takes it to (2009-1535) * 0,366 = 173,484 = 0,484 into the poem #174 - that is 0,484 * 14 = 6,776. Lines 5-6-7 are these:

First it tries with the ball,
the round one behind the big
toe that gives step to the roll

Pizza is 2-dimensional so it looks right.

There has been a lot of rain in Italy in recent days.
