Arcus tangens and my master degree thesis of february 1992
John Bjarne Grover
The article tells what my master thesis was about - and how this explains the connection between the Catalan constant and the Kennedy phenomenon in politics.
After I had published the present article, I published on 14 february 2023 the thesis itself.
My master degree thesis in linguistics of february 1992 (university of Oslo) is about probabilistic non-discrete grammar of the hungarian language - based on empirical studies of a corpus of hungarian text. The results were in fact quite convincing - the thesis includes 28 syntagms with convincing syntactic structure based on distributional properties of the speech sounds which I conjectured from the text corpus. Hungarian spelling is very close to phonemic so it was not so difficult - only the duration values (measured in milliseconds) were a little more cumbersome to incorporate. They are listed separately - more than 1100 context-dependent duration values. I defined a dependency function based on probablities and dependent probabilities - basically p(a)/p(a|b) - which led to these promising results - but I did initially work with a dependency function based on a definition of distribution by arcus tangens - but I was stopped by the suggestions from professor Hermann Ruge Jervell when I explained this for him. I have mentioned him in the acknowledgements 'for discussions on syntactic dependency and for his suggestions to the syntactic functions'. Today this looks perhaps like a pity if I now have found the transcendental Catalan constant as a possible definition of the blue metre or other important aspects of the human language faculty. The Catalan constant is simply the integral from 0 to 1 of arctan x divided with x - and so it could be close to the function I tried to use in 1991. Could be the Catalan constant is telling of a function that has its derivative in the area of probabilistic values between 0 and 1 - and this derivative could be telling of the metaphysical formation of referential matter relative to human language.
I fancy that the Catalan constant can be run in significant parallel with my blue-metre 'POLAKK English Bloggi' which probably has around 100.000 phonemes or thereabout (appr. 109.000 alphabetic letters). What happens when one comes to the end of the first 100.000 decimals of the Catalan constant? Will it start repeating itself - getting cyclic? Probably not, but of course every millenium is not a mechanic repeat of the previous. The cyclicity of the blue metre will be hidden in the larger base of the alphabet (25 or so) compared with the decimal base. Does this mean that an elaborate and empirically based theory could conjecture on historic events millions of years back in time - with a precision down to +/- 1 year, like my blue metre PEB when dating texts? Could it even be possible to make sense of 5 million year old signals coming from remote planets as a reply to messages sent from own planet a short time ago? Could be even that would be possible, trembling with a mystic sound. But then the academic world must stop being so nervous and lax of morals. It is not the professorship that brings the interesting results - it is the intellectual integrity that brings valuable results, and that applies equally to a professor as to a disability pensioner. Lack of intellectual integrity leads not only to warfare and terror - it leads to outright errors that blurs the firmament above us and creates a fictional world to interact with.
The issue is likely to be the problem of understanding the higher arbitrary sign relative to the poetic logic in the 'non-discrete' phrasal structure below. The Catalan constant could apply to the human reality while other realities elsewhere in the universe will need other (transcendental?) numbers.
Here are four samples from the 28 hungarian syntagms I studied in the master thesis - source is Sándor Márai's novel "Egy polgár vallomásai" page 11 and 15 (Budapest 1990). My guess is that an arctan function can be defined over probabilities in such a way that the results can be even more optimal.

I have guessed that the Catalan number opens for arbitrarities on phrase level for a bigger semiotic sign - and that the grammatical structure below this level is captured in an acoustic grammar - which could be distributional and probabilistic.
It is likely that even political history of the 20th century has been all and only this 'arcus tangens': The Kennedys as derived from Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch' can be seen to spring forth from the mid word (11 entries from the end of page 21) which is 'Max, Maximilian', whereby the 'max' will have been a maximum on a curve = ARCUS and the 'milian' is the cyclic blue metre of 1000 years span, my 'POLAKK English Bloggi'. Why is it 'tangens'? It is likely to be interpreted as the tangent of the diagonal to the circle in the 'lapis philosophorum', and when this is taken to be 'the curve of learning', it also means the mid character on this 'lapis', the apparently masturbating female with the 'arcus' hair - as a nymph of bathing throwing her head up from the water. Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch' is 42 pages of 3 columns each, very regularly spaced, but there are 7 entries (lines) in 3 columns missing on the last page which means that 21 entries (lines) are missing for a complete 42 page typography. The 21st line from the end of page 21 is 'Matura' - which in the human reality could mean the 'curve of learning' who is masturbating. It is likely that it is this complex which is 'Kennedy' - and the real reason for the force in this tradition is in the role (which I discovered a few weeks ago only - I may have been the first) of the Catalan constant, its decimals relative to my poetic text on 'numerality' - and now conjecturally for the blue 'millenial' metre - hence 'Maximilian' of the 'Matura'. The reason why these Kennedys were in the US democrat party could have been in the last word on p.21 which is 'die Mehrheit'. Although all those political 'gags' are likely to be built on Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch' in extension from Hitler's warfare, the explanation to all this tumult is likely to be in just the Catalan constant as a numeral expression of the cyclic human reality on a millenial span. A name such as 'Stoltenberg Jens' is likewise apparently a variant of 'arcus tan-gens' (of 'Matura' or toilet/twilight graffiti type) for the 'mammals' (whose reality seems to be different from birds). Hence all the tumult around Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch' is likely to be just because the Catalan constant as an embodiment of the millenial cycle of historic time and reality of humans could be the key to a solution of the problem of how to transfer information faster than the speed of light - which is to break Einstein's barrier and make controlled communication with remote intelligences possible. This could be the real reason for the Kennedys - that mid word in Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch' and what it could 'mean' from this point of view. To continue to keep history in leash with Kennedys should therefore not be necessary, and neither should it be necessary to continue to keep me secret or under the surface of the public reality.
It is only today that one can understand what Hitler and his disastrous holocaust and world war was: It was the reaction against the new logical space of Wittgenstein - by the names of the publishers who had rejected his manuscript: 'Jahoda & Siegel' was probably the reason for the holocaust, 'Braumüller' the reason for the world war, 'Reclam' the reason for the massive inflations and stockmarket collapses such as the 'klaps' on Wall Street in 1929 (the ads were 'klapsed' on the street walls), and 'Ficker'/'Fackel' the reason for the crisis in Wittgenstein/Vaticanstein with St.Peter's and the fear of posthumous doom. It is high time to stop this tragic farce, even if the farce should have the purpose of pretending to be in possession of the historically right when trying to tell the human species that 'Wittgenstein's book must be accepted by a publisher, otherwise it wont come out well'. Was it because Wittgenstein had enumerated his logical lines? It is likely that this logical space could find a nest within a grammar of the type I have outlined here.
It is of course possible that the Catalan constant or at least the arcus tanges relative to ideas of human reality in the cosmos has been known for some time - but not much progress could be made before one had the blue metre of my PEB. Could be I was made from Nelly Sachs and Paul Celan precisely for the purpose of writing that blue metre, without which further progress after Wittgenstein could not be made. I wrote the PEB in extension from the knowledge accumulated in the course of the 11 years of writing of the 16 books of The Endmorgan Quartet. With a blue metre PEB that functions empirically for dating texts on a cycle of 1000 years, this text of about 100.000 phonemes can be mapped onto (roughly) the first 100.000 decimals of the Catalan number for a detailed study of the relation between the two codes - and the relation to the following cycles of 100.000 decimals span - wherefrom a diachronic technology of computation on remote history can be developed. It is the task of writing this blue metre text which could not be solved in any other way - it cannot be written by a computer extracting data from even the biggest text databases since such averaging will only maximize certain redundancies and not much more.

What happened in 1916? Well, my official father John Jensen - later John Grøver - was born. I remember well that he was replaced with a copy in the late 60's, and I dont think the original came back. What the original later did, I dont know - whether he went to the Vaticanstein or what it was. It seems obvious that this attempt to break the barriers of human isolation is the entire history.
It must be noticed that the political circus since Wittgenstein probably is a farce that tries to pretend that e.g. the Kennedys are primary while ideas of a Catalan number relevant to the human language faculty is secondary and derives from their role in history plus an 'entirely arbitrary' rooting in Wittgenstein's 'Wörterbuch'. The Al Qaida phenomenon could be a comment on just that. But it is likely to be the other way round - that as soon as the riddle of the Catalan number is cracked, the whole political and 'intelligence' circus reduces to nothing. The function of this political circus of today is probably to try and protect the precious gem from the 'dirt' of the real world by encapsulating it in a jungle of intrigue and by spreading fog on the landscape - in order to ensure that the gem is not discovered. The quasi pretext could be a race to be the first to spread the propaganda in the universe by cosmic megaphones that 'those other ones are unreliable liars - dont listen to them'. But this is not a goodenough reason to continue the circus.
Added 30 june 2021: Ruge Jervell was probably not acquainted with the relevance of the arcustangens or the Catalan constant - he stopped my elaborations of it by telling that I needed a reason for such an idea which otherwise looked a little taken out of the air. He later tipped me on Hermann Grassmann's 'Ausdehnungslehre', which certainly could have been an interesting extension of this theory, could be even on top of a probability grammar based on this arctan definition. The story is therefore probably the trivial onset-truncation: 'Er man u-G air-well?' G = the Catalan constant, 'u' is the standard prefix for negation ('un-') in norwegian, 'er man...' = 'are you...', 'is one...'. 'Are you un-G airwell' could have been the 'Onr Over' idea, even if I did not mention 'Catalan', only the 'arctan(x)' probably or possibly divided with 'x'.
