Material to the doctorate evaluation 1998

My doctorate dissertation 'A waist of time' (reproduced in volume 3 of my 'collected works') was given to evaluation for the PhD degree at the university of Bergen in december 1997 and rejected by the appointed committee in 1998. This was after the obligatory lecture in the theory of science had been rejected by another committee in 1996. After the rejection in 1998 I wrote an appeal - to which the committee answered and to which I wrote yet another reply. I collected this material and published it in the book 'Doktorgraden' (33,7 MB) which I also translated into english 'The doctorate' - plus a 'supplement with the reply and my answer to this (3,2 MB) - also in english translation. These publications were sent to legal deposit in the norwegian national library - however, I believe with another pagination (and typography) in the english translation. I here reproduce my english translation of the original norwegian text in the evaluations from the two committees - the translation is mine and produced under somewhat 'lonely pressure' but I believe it reproduces faithfully the ideas authored by the two committees. I have speculated if parts of the evaluations could have been designed as deliberately unserious - this could perhaps be an interesting question in light of the circumstances of the terror bombings (twin bombings of US embassies in Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi in Africa, Omagh in Ireland - in sum approximating the formula 'rejected on a political basis' - as if I should have written my appeal by way of such terror) that followed not long after I had received the rejection letter in 1998 and which could have served a purpose of turning roles around - but this impression should, I believe, not be due to my translation. My view is that the material presented here can count as sufficient for or equivalent to a 'viva' which normally is part of a doctorate for the PhD degree.

I have scanned in the norwegian paper edition of 'Doktorgraden' which was sold in the university bookshop Studia in Bergen.
The question is whether these documents from the committees were invoked for the terror in Africa and Ireland 1998 and USA 2001.
I have notice a pecularity in the letter from Erik Brown on behalf of the committee evaluating the lecture in the theory of science: On top of his page 2 (my page 19) there is the word 'bed-fellows' which could apply to the twin bombings of the US embassies in Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi. On the equivalent place of his page 3 there is the line

If this should be taken to encode 'Omagh', one could subtract this placename from the top line and try and recognize the rest of the left half in the context of those days:

Hence if the bombings of 1998 were constructed to apply to these pages of Brown, it is perhaps possible to also see Walicki's 'expert opinion' as encoding 11 september 2001 in the form of the 1879 apparition of Knock in Ireland. He excerpts 7 points from my discussion and these could perhaps be recognized as such:
1. the twin towers
2. beregnbarhet = the rain that fell on the 'sculptures'
3. three factors = the three sculptures
4. the Lamb
5. the cross (if not 4 and 5 are vice versa)
6. the altar
7. the surrounding angels
If one considers also the document from the committee which was evaluating the dissertation, one can e.g. consider the equivalent points compared with Brown's letter - just down below to the left of the page number on top. For Brown's page 1 (my page 18), I notice that 'Jeg sender dette brevet på vegne av [...]' = 'I send this letter on behalf of [...]' could invoke associations to 'Jeg sender dette brevet på vegg[e]ne av [...]' = 'I send this letter on the walls of [...]'. (5/5-23: Would "Jeg send..." associate with '11/9-2001...'? Jagland was PM 1996-97).

To the form 'neppe': Knut Aukrust, while he was still married to my elder sister, told a story (it would have been in probably the 1980's) about professor of law Carl August Fleischer (I think it was Fleischer - at least a well known law expert in those days) - when he was up for exam at the end of his studies, he was known to be selfconfident on his abilities in the field and his censors felt that he was too selfconfident and said "vi kan stryke deg hvis vi vil" = "we can flunk you if we want" (as I think is the translation), to which he answered ('cut them short with'?) the single word 'neppe' = 'hardly'. ('Kneppe' is danish fourletter for sexual intercourse). (See also the story of 'Kujtim Fejzulai'. Fleischer was, and maybe still is, professor with interests in international and state law ('folkerett og statsrett') which hence concerns both passports ('passende') and territories ('be-grunnet'). whereby the initial 'k' has been 'cut short' - while the beginning 'k-a-n-d-u-o-t-l-s-f-t' could exhibit some phonological similarities with 'Knut Aukrust'. 'Knadd' means 'kneaded' the dough, or even the potato balls? I notice also this 'tremolo due'-lstad. (There hasnt been much earthquakes in e.g. Venice - but one time has to be the first). As far as I remember, the first time I met Petter Enok Skau Jakobsen (in the autumn 1973) he was on a mattress. It happened also I think while I shared office with 'Dag Diesen' in 1988-89 that I met Christian-Emil Ore on the bar Resepten in Oslo but he had to leave in order to paint his office ('male kontoret').
